Pass Plus
(Further driver training for newly qualified drivers)

Drivers aged between 17 and 21 make up 10% of all licence holders but are involved in 20% of all injury accidents, especially young male drivers. Every year 1000 people die in road accidents involving young drivers. However, older novice drivers are at higher risk than those who have driven for some years. Therefore it is lack of driving experience rather than immaturity that is the main factor.

The purpose of Pass Plus is not to offer a substitute for experience, but is aimed at developing attitudes and skills that are essential for safe driving, especially in situations where new drivers are most vulnerable due to their lack of experience.

As well as further experience and training on motorways, Pass Plus offers financial incentive by the way of participating insurance companies offering discounts on motor insurance.
A minimum of 6 hours further training is required and includes the following modules:-

1. Introduction and town driving
2. All-weather driving
3. Out of town driving & rural roads
4. Night driving
5. Dual carriageways
6. Motorways
